Fine Art & Auction Review (May, 1991) - Toronto - If there's one factor that has remained constant throughout the current recession it is the continuing strength of well-priced, quality works of art. For the most part this means pieces valued between $20,000 and $150,000. It's always been tough to sell above this price level in Canada, recession or not, and therefore, while it is always a feather in the cap for a saleroom to offer works in this upper price range their omission from most of this spring's catalogues will have little effect on the main thrust of market support and activity.

Fine Art & Auction Review (Fall, 1990) - The 1990 fall season got off to a smooth start with sales in Montreal indicating the market is stable and prepared to pay for the right pieces. Coming close to the Canadian record for a Riopelle canvas was the $416,250 bid at Hotel des Encans in October for a fine 1950's composition. The same salesroom also created a stir when they conducted their first sale in New York with excellent results.

The Fine Art & Auction Review (December / January, 1987) - Toronto - There were no more than 100 people in attendance at the single session sale of selected works from the estate of the late Mrs. Ward C. Pitfield conducted by Joyner Fine Art Inc. Monday, December 1st in the St Lawrence Hall, Toronto. But, when all those present are buyers, 100 is all you need! The sale of primarily historical Canadian works consisted of 63 lots, and took exactly one hour to complete. But, within that hour some amazing prices were recorded, and, yet again, more individual artist records fell.

The Fine Art & Auction Review (December 1985 / January 1986) - Toronto - The historic St. Lawrence Hall on King Street in Toronto was an appropriate setting for the inaugural preview and auction sale of Canadian art by Joyner Fine Art Inc., November 26th and 27th. It was standing room only on both evenings as dealers and collectors from across the country witnessed possibly the most successful first sale of any auction house in Canada when the final hammer fell on a gross sale total of approximately $1,600,000.
